Drabbl Win

I have some good news! 🙂

My first ever poem titled ‘Us‘ has been awarded the First Runner Up prize by Drabbl which is a forum for micro fiction writers.

What’s the big deal you ask?!

It’s my first win for writing something online. Oh.. Did I say it was online? Then you probably know it was pan India. Okay, I won’t blow my own trumpet! It may not be much but I’m just telling you I am happy!

Thanks to Team Drabbl for the Amazon gift voucher!

And bear hugs to Piyusha aka the Wandering Soul for having informed me about the event.

Blogger Recognition Award

As always, I am late in writing an award post. Only because life has been doing what it’s best at – playing roller-coaster and screwing me over!

I have always wondered if I would ever get a Blogger Recognition Award and now I did! I am indeed thankful to thejuicenut who writes at pearsnotparsnipsdotcom for having nominated  me.  For those of you who don’t know, thejuicenut writes about food and health. She shares her journey down the road to becoming a vegetarian, its benefits and some awesome recipes for us to be healthy (and vegetarian!). Do check her blog out. I am sure you’ll love it! 🙂

Now for the next part..

Rule 7: Comment on the blogs you have named here to let them know you have nominated them.

How I Started My Blog:

I have always had this idea of becoming a famous writer, right from my childhood. But, I never really got around to it because I feared nobody would read/like what I wrote. That fear kept me from publicizing my writing for five years. Then one fine day, I got an update on Facebook saying that a senior of mine had found inspiration somewhere and had started his blog. That was my inspiration to start my blog. Now, I know that’s not much of a story. But, that’s the truth!

My Advice to New Bloggers:

Oh wow! I can advice people now. 😀

So, here’s some of my wisdom:

  1. Writing jargon does not make a great writer. Keep it simple and call it like you see it!
  2. Networking is important. Connect with as many bloggers as you can. Not because you need readers, but because you need honest friends and critics.
  3. Never give up on yourself. You may feel like you’re no good and full of shit at times. But don’t believe that voice in your head. That’s just you!
  4. If there’s a post you have written and you think is no good, don’t erase it. Publish it or share it with a friend/fellow blogger. Ask for their opinion. If it’s that terrible, they will help you make amends. But no writing should go to waste because you feel it should.
  5. You needn’t believe me. But this is tested and proven advice!

Because I know that nothing beats the love in a family.

  2. Answer the questions from your nominators.

My Answers to Kaushal:

  • What would you do if you got $50000?

Take a trip to wherever I can with all that money!

  • What is it that makes you unique?(Any three things)

My attitude, my values and my actions.

  • What is your favorite color? why?

Red and Black. Because they represent the strongest of emotions to me.

  • Outsider or insider?

  • Pet lover or hater?

Neither I guess. More of a stay-away and watch person.

  • Your views on a little pot aquarium in your room.

It would be nice. But then I don’t think I would be able to maintain it.

  • Arranged or Love marriage- preference?

Either ways, I hope I find someone perfect for me.

  • Success or Family- more important?

Family always.

  • Do you believe in past sins and re-birth philosophy?

I believe in Karma.

  • What is your favorite number? Why?

8. Because its my birthday.

  • Can you leave your country if you’ll get better future promises in any other country and settle down there?

It would be a lie to say I wouldn’t.

My Answers to Anand:

  • Which is your best memory?

I can’t pick one as such! Memories from my childhood and college are my best.

  • Do you feel you are at peace with yourself?

I don’t think so. I feel there is a lot I can achieve and that I haven’t pushed myself hard enough to attain those things. In a way, this is what motivates me to redefine my limits.

  • Who is your guide, guru or counselor?

Without doubt it is my Anna (elder brother). He is my go to person anytime anywhere. I know he will be honest and sincere to tell me what I need to know and not what I want to hear.

  • What makes you feel very good?

Accomplishing something I have wanted to or finding happiness in doing something outside my comfort zone

  • Which quality or habit in your life you like the most about yourself?

I am straight forward and I call it like I see it. Even though this often means I have to face consequences, I wouldn’t have it any other way!

  • Who are your source of inspiration?

My family, my feminist friends and individuals from the web who help me learn new lessons from either own lives or mine.

  • What is the role of gratitude in your life?

A perpetual feeling.

  • What is your best quality?

I am never afraid to step out of my comfort zone!

  • Has blogging enriched your life? How?

It has. I have read so many remarkable articles on so many blogs! It not just broadened my outlook but also helped me improve as a writer.

  • What is your greatest talent?

Getting uncomfortable!
